Beyond the Dark Portal
What was to become known as the Battle for the Dark Portal went back and forth for days, and several times, the Burning Legion broke through the lines of the Alliance and Horde to set fire to the encampment erected by the Argent Dawn.
But a week after the Dark Portal reopened, the Alliance and Horde pushed the Burning Legion all the way back through the portal and followed them through to the far side.
And the Alliance and Horde found the Alliance waiting for them on Draenor.
Or, at least, it was what was once called Draenor. The heroes of the Second War had succeeded in tearing apart the planet when they did whatever they did to the portals. The Hellfire Peninsula was circled by flying debris and the entire region was now a mix of broken slabs of earth at varying angles.
“What are you grinning at?” Beli snapped, bringing her hammer down again and again, cracking open a felbeast’s skull and covering herself in gore.
“There!” Ringo pointed at the Alliance fortress town visible beyond the forces of the Burning Legion attempting to push their way back through the Dark Portal to Azeroth. Ganaar had told the truth: Despite the destruction they had wrought, the Alliance forces had survived. “It’s hope.”
